Leyland Tiger Project

Bluebird are restoring a 1929 Leyland Tiger TS2. The project started in late 2009 and will be complete in 2011.

The project is led by Bluebird Design & Development Manager John Randerson, and Coachbuilder Bernard Moment, who is teaching the Bluebird apprentices traditional wooden framed coachbuilding skills as the project progresses.

The Tiger was built by Ransomes of Ipswich, and bought new by East Yorkshire Motor Services (EYMS). The registration number was RH206 and EYMS Fleet number 158. It was converted to run on Producer gas during World War II, and was sold in 1946. It was later was adapted and used as a dwelling. It was rediscovered in the 1970's in an advanced state of decay, and was taken in by Hull Technical College, who planned to restore it while training apprentices. The project was abandoned part way through and was sold to an enthusiast, but again the project never advanced.

Bluebird bought the vehicle in 2009 and are determined to restore it to it's former glory, and original EYMS livery.

These pages chart the progress and will be updated until the project is complete. Watch this space......
